KaiGo, is a Go!
What is KaiGo? Literally that, where kai(food) will come and go.
KaiGo is being established here in Katikati and will partner with many local community groups and organisations locally.
The need for a local food distribution project has grown from a shared local vision with community groups, organisations, and clubs in Katikati, Waihi and Waihi Beach. The demand for food parcels has grown immensely over the past two years, made worse by Covid-19. Our local Foodbank and Maori Wardens struggle to keep up with the growing demand. The weekly commute for volunteers to and from Tauranga to collect food from Good Neighbour has taken its toll, and we’re coming up with our solution – KaiGo! With a localised food distribution hub, much needed time and money will be saved, edible food will be diverted away from landfills, and more families in and around Katikati will be supported by this CLD initiative.
The sky’s the limit with this project, so if you would like to know more, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Alan at alan@katikatitaiao.org
